    Default Picked up another razor

This is a Shumate 135 and I was wondering what the scales are made of?
    Is that faux bone?

Hard to say for sure what the scales are made of from that one pic.

I don't think it's jigged bone or stag. Gut feeling I get is that it is a plastic of some sort cast to resemble jigged bone. I've seen similar scales on pocket knives. Some of them survive quite well, others shrink and crack usually without any gassing issues.

Look at them under magnification and try to see if the surfaces are smooth or have the tiny capillary holes like bone.

    Great looking old razor.

The pins look original and I would guess plastic also. Time frame of manufacturing makes me think that.

    pretty cherry Shumate :<0)

Nice one. My guess is a type of plastic.

I looked at the scales with my jeweler's loupe and they are plastic I think.
