    Very interesting razor, like Ferdi mentioned from a very old company founded in 1795, mainly for surgical instrument. More then likely this razor was part of a surgical Kit like the picture below.

    Interestingly the scales of this razor are made of "maillechort", a mixture of copper,nickel and zinc, a process invented in 1819 by french workers Maillet and Chorier, hence the given name. Somewhat like the more common "German silver".
