    Default A curious razor.

My father-in-law passed away recently. While going through his things my wife found 3 straight razors. 1 a p+c messerschmidt, a razor identical but in not so good shape as the one in this post [http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ph-razor.html] and the razor i need help with it says Georgia Special on one side and Georgia Bar. Sup. Co. Savannah. GA.

I am including a couple pics for anyone to help me determine age and value? i am strictly a DE user. My hands have just a little to much tremor for a strait razor.

it would be a barber supply company from Georgia, I have one from a barbers supply in Anderson sc as to who made it there is no way to tell probally dates from the 1920's to 1940's. I will see if I can find any more on it

Welcome to SRP ! Looks like it could be a nice razor with some clean up and a hone. No value estimates are allowed because it might be worth more to you than me :<0) It looks like an American made razor because it has no other country stamped on it. You may be able to look up some info on the barber supply company in US records or do a search in the search box to see what comes up. Somebody may come along with more.

i am glad for all the postings and as to value I should have been thinking. I was blown away when i learned the history of the Triumph razor i have. I Have a very limited income so getting strops and honing stones may be out of my reach for a while.

Canada is a big place. I think you have a better chance of running into another straight razor user than you do a bear :<0) They may be able to help jump start your straight use. Post more about your location and see :<0)

I saw a razor on ebay a week or so ago that had Greenville Bar. Sup. Greenville SC on it (I live near Greenville, SC so it caught my eye). Looks like the same blade and bolsters, but it had black scales on it.
I don't know anything about the manufacturer, but it would seem that there was a barber supply company in GA and SC that was either selling these or giving them away.
I'll be looking into the Greenville one a bit deeper because it is so close to me. If I find out anything I'll let you know.

    Welcome to the forum.

It looks in pretty good shape, probably could use a good cleaning, the pins tightened and obviously needs to be honed.

There's a couple of people in Ontario that could fix that up for you if you're interested.

Actually the pins are tight surprisingly . A clean and hone are a defiant must i agree. Nice to know there is help near by.
