Thanked: 2Wostenholm & Son...
Found in the wild. Are they any good? Looks like the scales need to be replace. Blade appears to need polished up and hone. Worth it?

Thanked: 634Scales appear to be for to us shell. If solid may need a treatment with neatsfoot oil. Blade needs good cleaning and hone. Wostenholm pipe razors are good and shave well.

Thanked: 2The scales are warp. If worth it, then in the future will have new scales.

Thanked: 0I don't know the value but I have one identical with worse scales. It is a very good shaving razor.

Thanked: 1184Scales look like dyed horn and can be straightened. Nice razor and worth it yes. No need for new scales if you ask me :<0)

Thanked: 118Those scales appear to be genuine Tortoise. You won't find a lot of genuine Tortoise Shell.
It would be worth the attempt to straighten and restore those scales.
I have the same razor. Wostenholms hold a great edge and are great shavers. The weight of the near wedge makes for a very different and pleasant shave.May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

Thanked: 284Yes from the pictures the scales look to be in decent shape. I'd really look at them before tossing them.
Before you put any kind of oil on them make sure you don't have any areas that you'd like to repair, like with thin CA. Once you oil them that could be difficult.
If you're going to throw them away you can send them to me Nice razor.I love living in the past...

Thanked: 2Thanks guys for the input. I will certainly try to get the scales tone up nicely and get the razor honed.

Toothpaste, brush and pipe cleaners are your friends. A stainless steel scrubby and the paste will make the blade shine. No sense buying specialized stuff for a few razors... A short soak in ½ and ½ water and vinegar to start will loosen soap scum.
Have fun and a Happy New Year to you!
