Indeed. The number of layers of tape you'd have to use doesn't bear thinking about. They must have been honed more like a knife, surely?

Actually, now that you mention it I did have an unmarked stubtail a long time ago that had a convex grind. And yes, it was a real bear to figure out how to hone that thing.
