Thanked: 1Mappin & Webb
Hi there,
I've been shaving with a feather shavette type straight for over two years now and am getting some great shaves but have been thinking about getting a straight for a while but keeping an edge has been putting me off.
I stopped off in an antique shop and bought a set of four straights in a box (something I know everyone recommends not to do unless you know what you're buying) but they looked in good condition.
I only paid £45pounds for them so I thought they were worth a punt. The blades look to be in good condition and have a good edge.
does anyone know anything about the makers and have any advice on how to prepare them for use?
Thanks,
Carl.

Please post pictures. The price was very fare in my opinion. We cannot give evaluations of actual values on this site. But we can talk quality, condition. So pictures, pictures!!!

ShavingRash,
I have two (2) ivory scaled Mappin & Web razors, and they are superb shavers
45 GBP is a bargain for even one of those razors
Have fun
Best regards
Russ

I have a Mappin and Webb that was given to me and is a razor I use most days, it is a good shaver. Pictures would be nice.

Thanked: 3226Mappin and Webb have a fine reputation as quality razors so you should have a good base to start from. Posting good clear photos of each of the razors would be best to allow members to suggest how to proceed to get them shave ready.

The general rule of thumb on SRP is that without photos it didn't happen ............
That is a good score if they're in good condition. M&W are made real fine razors.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I have the exact same 3 razor set of Mappin's (without the box... DRAT!) and they are quite excellent razors. "SECOND to NONE"!
