Thanked: 2John Prince straight?
Hi all,
Does anyone have any knowledge of John Prince straights? I've found very little about the brand. Some sites call it American, others say it's German. There's a rather lovely straight with sterling scales that has my eye--but at $275, don't know what I'd be getting. The sellers have tried to be helpful, but may not know a whole lot. Your opinion? Much thanks! Here's the link:

I'd have to say that price is for the scales, not the blade. If I had an eye toward it, some new steel would definitely be going in.

Thanked: 2Yeah, I see your point. The seller sent me a few additional photos of the blade. It didn't look bad--but certainly not great. The scales are mighty tempting. I did some searching, but the only reference to the maker came from sellers on various sales sites. Nothing authoritative. Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanked: 4827Well it allegedly comes shave ready. I age no idea the reputation of the vendors. It could be totally legit only communication will help you figure that out. As for the razor if it floats your boat and you don't have to miss any meals to buy it, perhaps it should be yours.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 2I believe I'll leave the bling for the next guy. As my wife pointed out, a good shaver beats an elegant paperweight. She also mentioned, less kindly, that I've already blown through the collecting budget, thanks to Rodney Neep and the beautiful brush that's heading this way. Okay, I give.
