Thanked: 12Kamisori Hone Wear
Would this be considered an unacceptable amount of hone wear on a used vintage Kamisori?

Acceptable, but it could be a long time of honing to get it right. I have a few that were worse. I would guess the flatter side is almost dead flat. That is where the honing, mostly takes place. And... that is where without great care, the honer will start a rocking motion and really screw things up. Low and slow does the trick.
gssixgun could comment better on condition and possibilities.

PS. I do not hone for other folks. Too much to learn for my own goodies.Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Thanked: 13249Really tuff call from the pic but I will try and tell ya what I look for
1. Is there a hollow grind still there on both sides of the razor ??? Kamisori are Asymmetrically ground but they still have hollows on both sides they are just un-equal.. No hollows No Buy
2. On the Stamped side the side we cannot see look at the top of the razor (Spine on a Western) how much wear is there.. How large is the bevel on that side, it should be TINY near invisible
3, The side we are looking at, the Un-stamped side, see how the wear is un-even ?? that is from a bad honer
4. The heel, on this pic it is hard to tell, but if there isn't an actual heel defined and distinct so that the edge is defined and distinct, I won't buy it..
Those are the 4 things I always look for, otherwise it is just a sharp chunk of steel

Thanked: 13249Honestly both these pics are obviously done by the same person and both are at the exact worse angle to really judge the razor..
Are there other pics ????

Thanked: 13249I just looked through his listings, Yes those of us that hunt Kamisori know exactly who's pics those are
There are several that are only about $30 more than the ones you have shown and some are in really nice condition..
There are a couple of Tosuke that if I were in buying mode I would snag in a heartbeat

lack of knowledge and fear of getting a razor that is "not right" is the only thing keeping me from buying one !! just 2 scared to buy a used one and not ready to buy a new one ..lol
but this thread has gave me more info then I have found by previous searches !!
