Thread: First Razor ever made ?

I just found this, I'm not sure who would use this and for what?

Those are on ebay so often I find it hard to believe that they are authentic.

I recently saw a thread here about various razors (wall of shame?), and that was one brought up by a more knowledgeable member than I. IIRC, those are from asia, and possibly more intended for shaving the head of another person. The blade is about the size of your hand, doesn't really fold into the handle at all, and is made from unknown random inconsistent metal; possibly from a farm tool too weathered to continue in its current line of work. They were a tool of necessity: made from what was available, by peasants and the likes.

I might be off with the specifics of the "how & why". It is late, and I've been binge reading SRP for about a month, including ancient threads. So my memory on this may be fuzzy like ...my train of thought just ran out of funny.

There are real straights that look like that but 80% of those offers now are fakes. Tons of them coming out of China.

Your title got me! I was hoping to see a pic of a really old razor. Well done.

This is the very first straight edge razor ever made (is black jade) Est to be about 40K yrs old,most likly made by a neanderthal.

I can't see the bevel. It's obscured by the mastodon snot they used for lather.
