JA Henckels Model Coding
Hey guys! I know there has to be someone out there that has done some extensive research on JA Henckels razors. I recently saw a couple model numbers and what they stood for as far as blade width and point type in a post here but can't find it now. Any info or maybe a link to some info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanked: 4826pretty much the 1/2 stands for round point. You can figure out all of the widths for the model numbers but most of them are 5/8 and 6/8 the larger 7/8 and 8/8 are all in the 17's and 14's and not all of the models had numbers. There are a lot of model numbers. I would have to be at home to be able to count the ones just in my collection, which is not comprehensive at all. Many of the models are available in either carbon or stainless. Anything with a V is a 1/4 hollow the rest are a spilt between 1/2 and full hollow.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I've not been able to make heads, nor tails of the numbering system. I do have a suspicion the numbers may have to do with sizes of wheels ground on, but I dunno. Also is the Zwillingswerk and Twinworks' numbering systems different? I have a #66 which is 6/8 and half-hollow and a 15/16 #66 which is the thinnest Henk I have ever owned. I would like to know myself. One thing is certain. In good shape, they ALL shave great!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

+1 on that one. The J A Henckels may be the best buy for the money they fetch today. I never owned one that did not hone up nicely and shave smooth. I have 6One tired old Marine- semper fi, god bless all vets

Thanks for your responses guys. I bought a slightly under 5/8 #15 blade only a while back, acquired a taste for bigger blades and sold it, which I regret now. I decided I would have another some day but was looking for at least a 6/8 without spending a lot. Recently I acquired (stole for around $35 shipped each) a nice 6/8 #1127 and a 6/8 #78, both square points with original cases. The 1127 is a great shaver as expected, the #78 I just honed up last night and have not shaved with it yet. I don't plan on ever selling these.

@ rezdog
I believe the 1/2 at the end of the number means half hollow.
From what I have seen 17's are 6/8-7/8
14 blanks have been used by multiple manufactures and they range from 7/8-8/8". There are a couple of threads that go into explaining this a bit more.
