Can't tell you much about the razor other than to say it looks like it will clean up nicely and looks to be a near wedge, a nice heavy grind. I enjoy using a razor with a thumb notch like that has. Some of the French members may chime in with more info on the maker.

Renodier a Toulouse was a manufacturer in cutlery mainly razors and surgical instruments,in Toulouse France, like the box, founded in 1850. In 1865 the firm was awarded a bronze medal for their surgical instruments. There is certainly evidence of this firm to be in business as far as 1930's.

Martin - great history, thanks for sharing.

Rugo - nice old razor. I particularly like the inner faces of the horn (I think they are horn!) scales. Like a lot of french makers, the inner face of the scale was often a secondary consideration, still preserving the rough score marks from the rasp that shaped it.

I also like the fact that the wedge end has been scored, probably to help stop the bone wedge from turning (loads of french scales from this time have a bone wedge, often it turns a yukky yellow colour over the years.

    Regards,
    Neil
