a close up of the tang would be better so that we can see the markd , but this may be the info for it
Globe Barber supply NY 1916
or
Globe cutlery co. 1921-1929 Germany/NY
all I could find involving "Globe" other then pocket knives .. is there any words , letters , or numbers on the side of the tang not shown ??Last edited by gooser; 02-28-2015 at 05:39 AM.

I have two Globusmen in my restore pile and on both the reverse (pile) side of the tang is stamped with:
THIS WONDERFUL RAZOR IS
PRODUCED AT SOLINGEN WITH
THE FINEST SILVER STEEL
Globusmen razors usually tend to say something like this. However, Globusmen razors tend to be elaborately decorated (often too much gold and whatnot for my taste), which yours is not; but then again, the blade etching may very well have been coloured in in gold. But whatever it is, that is a mighty fine looking razor. Nice size, in good shape and with three pin scales (which usually points at slightly higher end of the production line). Looks like a quality Solingen made razor to me.

Thanked: 3164The OPs original box says 'Ambossman" (anvil man) and that brand was owned by Rudolf Frauenzimmer from Solingen.
Globusmann (including all the variant marks and other marks they had) were made by Edmund and Rudolph Bergfeld, also of Solingen, see here, post 4, for Oldengaerd's translation.
Regards,
Neil
PS the original Globusmen sign was of two men holding up the world.

Thanked: 2Im not certain this is the original box. The globe logo appears to be a lion in a globe on the etching, and on the scales. The ambossmann was the anvil man? Ill send better pictures when i get off work

Thanked: 3164You may well be right, happens a lot.
Yes, Ambossman=anvil man, you can see the logo of a small man holding an anvil that they used as their trademark.
Looking forward to seeing a good pic of the blade etching.
Regards,
Neil

Thanked: 3164They are OK and from what Pithor said the writing on the revers of the tang looks correct for a Bergman & Sohn...just would have expected their name or logo on it.
Seems you have a decent razor on your hands, congratulations!
Regards,
Neil
