Dovo Astrale heel issue?
New guy here, I've just introduced myself here.
I got a very little used Dovo Astrale from a norwegian classifieds site, at about half the price of what they sell for new here (if they were in stock that is....)
I polished of some waterspots, and when I started to hone it, something felt.... weird. Then I noticed the heel was asymmetrical: http://i.imgur.com/7qZXonN.jpg
Side view: http://i.imgur.com/j4OQ0Xt.jpg, http://i.imgur.com/ti4c96n.jpg
Is it supposed to be like this?
Any advice?

Thanked: 24I don't think so. Does it hone? As long as it gets sharp enough I wouldn't worry too much. Looks like you have a way to go to get that frown out, anyhow.

A bit of bad grinding at the shoulder but nothing not easily fixed. If its not affecting anything leave it but if it is just grind it to even it out. There are a few guys in Norway so maybe do a search and see if there is anyone you can meet with could help you out. Good luck
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

It hones, I'm just annoyed that it bumps and eats away at the edges of softer stones during circles. I guess I won't do anything right away, if I get it sharp enough, I'll leave it.

Thanked: 4942I actually see this phenomena on quite a few razors. Usually not problematic. So long as it hones up, you're fine. You have to be careful sometimes when you go after it though, to not develop those little heel spikes.
