    Default clauss str8 question.

I just found a nice clauss at a antique store when I was cleaning it up I found one small spot of rust on the toe face just below the top of the spine. Glitz would not remove it. So I popped it of with a pocket knife. To my surprise it looked like a plating of some sort. Were these razors plated?

I do not know about the Clauss specifically, however some razors were plated for a short period of time. I think it was an attempt to make a more resilient razor. There were not a lot of them made and it was not a long time that they were done that way. A bunch of them were for the military. I suspect that it was short lived because making stainless razors became the way to go. A lot of presumption on my part, except that they were made with plating for a short time.
