Thanked: 0Prunus Solingen razor??
Im looking at buying a razor of eBay, it appears to be in good condition but I cant find out whether or not its going to hold an edge well etc
The make on the tang is Prunus Solingen and has an olive leaf design
and on the blade it says Hamburg Ring extra hollow grind.
Is it any good?

Thanked: 3164'Prunus" (sometimes Prunus-Werk, especially on table cutlery), though the latter is more properly used for the factory that produced the razors) was a brand mark of W. Wielpütz. Prunus is a flowering plant that includes many members of the plum family. Here it is on an item of stainless steel ('rostfrei') table cutlery:
The archiving industry website says that the company was recorded in the Solingen register of 1922, though of course it could have existed both before and after that date.
There are two others with the same surname in the archive, but both of these were razor blade makers, they may have been related, but it seems to be a rather common name.
Regards,
Neil

Looks good in the picture. I wouldn't hesitate to buy if the price is right.
