Thanked: 0Kron-Punkt Razor info
I recently bought a Kron-Punkt 98 with blued spine, faux ivory scales with silver(?) inlaid logo(celluliod of some sort), 3 pin, black wedge by Paul Heups, or at least I think it is a kron punkt by heups rather than the other way around. Any ideas when it might have beeen made, if it has any collectors value to speak of. The scales are slightly warped and can interfere with the closing of the blade. I am inclined to replace with home-made pecan (a fairly hard wood) scales. Unless there is a significant value in current condition, I would rather have pecan scales on it. If it does have a value greater than say $40 shave ready, I would probably be willing to part with it for an appropriate price. Not that I expect it to, as I got it on E-Bay for $10.50 as sniped.

It's a very nice snipe. IIRC they're made by DOVO and make very good shavers. You may want to keep it.

Thanked: 0It is a good shaver, and hone friendly too, I just wanted to know if I would be tearing up an antique, or if it was a more recent blade. It does shave quite nicely, and I intend to keep it, but it has no special value to me, so if it has a significant value, I wouldn't mind turning a profit. Mostly i didn't want to destroy something of value in the interest of looks/ minor fit issues.

Recent.. AFIK it doesn't have a major collector's value.

On Dovo's site it lists them obtaining the Kronpunkt name from Heups in 1969. That assumes that I am interpreting their website correctly.

This link is a little more 'english' friendly:

1969? Hell, that was just yesterday. If there are any brass inlay in those scales, take 'em out, and get them onto those purdy new scales you are itching to make!
Post pict's...we like to see custom work
See you in the 'Restoration' area!!
