New Favsie
So I got a Torrie shoulder less razor of the bay. It was opening bid 29 bucks and I put it on my watch list. Forgot to bid before the auction ended the first time around and nobody else bid on it. thankfully the seller relisted it even though it was for the same price. Well I put it on my watch list again and waited till the last couple of hours to bid and yet again no one else was bidding even less watching the item and it was in really good condition minus a chip off the scales and some minor patina which in my book is a plus when it comes to vintage razors. I ended up bidding on it and won. Quick cheap shipping though not free which would have been nice but hey can't win at everything. It even had everything I like in a blade. Im talking slight smile, shoulder less and barbers notch. Minimal and even hone wear to boot.
Any ways. I honed it up using my standard 1k king to coticule to arkie black progression then did a micro bevel on the black. I shaved with it today and holy freaking crap. It was awesome. I mean ATG first pass on the throat being super smooth kinda awesome. All this with curveballs thrown at it. I didn't have time to strop or prep right like I normally do and I used a crappy soap to make it worse and it was still my favorite razor hands down without a doubt. That means that the razor went from stone to face with no stropping at all. I used some old home made shave soap that was not very good and I didn't do and prep and it was still better than my other favorite which is a Genco 7N Pyramid. Both razors I will say are close but because the Torrie is shoulder less and smiling and barbers notch it wins of the two.
Well point is if you don't own a Torrie razor, well what are you doing with your life. I don't know what I was doing until now.

I have a Torrey that's a bit of an ugly duckling but it is a darn fine shaver. I hope to pick up a minty Torrey someday.

I will do so when the wifey returns home with the camera. You know, she's out taking selfies and what not of her baby bump. I am thinking of rescaling it with some black palm scales or maybe snake wood although the palm seems really appealing. By the way your silver worcester blade is gorgeous. I am truly jealous of some of the razors you own. You should take detailed pics of your razors and make a glorious thread of gorgeousness. I have been searching for an 8/8's Genco like the one you have/had since you posted a picture of it. When I bought the Torrie I was also bidding on a shoulder less Genco and got beat out by like 3 cents last second. I had never seen a shoulder less Genco before. I guess it was a good thing though as I could only afford either the Genco or the Torrie though. God I wish I had limitless money to buy razors and hones.

Hard not to like an old Torrey; got a pair and think they're both excellent razors. They're hard to get rid of.
