Thanked: 30First Flea Market Razors of 2015 - Old English Finds
First time out this year with the wife. Got an antique Duncan Yo-Yo Emerald for $2.00 - Just fun to have. Then two tables down was this treasure chest of goodies.
NOT IN THE PICS:
Noonan & Sons 5/8 - handled is self scribed "1910" when it was bought.
Friedmann & Lauterjung Electric Razor French Point 4/8
M. Jung #80 5/8
McIntosh Huntington Co. The Crown Razor 5/8
Empty, but in nice condition and it came with the lot.
7/8 at widest Joseph Elliot Best Silver
6/8 W&B Hollow Ground
7/8 at widest Marshes & Shepard Pond Works - some etching on the top "An Excellent Shaver"
7/8 Joseph Smith & Sons Sheffield - George Washington etching barely there. Words read "Washington - Champion of Liberty"
and this very fat gentleman here 9/8 CT Bingham --- This will be getting a make over soon as I figure out who to send it off to. My largest razor to date and it is massive, the weight alone is weapon like, and the spine is crazy thick.

Thanked: 18awesome finds! I really like that Tally-HO and Elliot. Personally I send my restoration work to Mycarver but you'll find plenty of good candidates around these parts for restoration work.

That Marshes & Shepard Pond Works is great. That's a pretty rare blade shape.

Occasionally we see collections like that for sale in this country but we never find stuff like that in the wild. I'm drooling

Thanked: 30Thanks. I have been resisting hitting the antique stores all winter. Always so overpriced and never what I am looking for. Very good weekend, hoping for a repeat this weekend because the seller emailed me about the rest of the razors they have. Said he would hold them for me first, anything I pass on goes on the table.
I tend to be greedy and take all...depending on the deal that can be struck.

John is correct. The Marshes & Shepherd is a 'Tapered Grind' blade and they are rather rare. I have several and they are some of my favorite shavers. Here are a couple of threads for you to peruse about these type blade profiles:

Going hunting this weekend. I would love it if I could find just ONE like that.
