The scales make it a pricey item if their real , as to the Palmeras. I'm told they are a very sought after razor. Ask Pixelfixed he has some really nice ones. I believe he even sold one or two recently for a very good price. Tc

Yes - they are beautiful razors, and Pixel had two up in the Classifieds that lasted about two minutes...he was being mean and only shipped to the US though...
I managed to get a beat up Palmera #14, had it rescaled in acrylic, and the only thing I can say for a comparison is for me, take the best of a good heavy Sheffield blade and add the precision and grind of a Filarmonica, absolutely superb razor with a great heft and delivers a great shave every time.

Thanked: 2027Am not being mean,I am on Canadas radar because of some past problems with customs.
Besides,Shipping Ivory out of CONUS, or to N.Y, N.J or Calif carries a $50K fine and possible jail time.
Palmeras are great razors,But $1950.00 is nutz.CAUTION

Thanked: 4826I have seen that one listed for a very long time. I think that one is a drawing card. It is awesome and out there and makes you want to see what else is for sale and it is priced high enough that not many people would actually buy it. It worked for me. I saw it and went to see what else was for sale. I don't think it is seriously for sale, but it gets people there and conversations just like this one started.

No. I tried one. Decent razors, but nothing out of the ordinary. Wanted by many, but rare nor magical. Just large hollow ground razors. And I never understood what anyone anywhere sees in abalone scales on razors.
This razor seems to be the seller's flag, attracting buyers for his other wares, as far as I am willing to venture a guess. I wouldn't pay a tenth of that price for one. Even without those scales.
