Thiers manufacturers
Acier Fondu is indeed 'cast steel'.
Check this out for cutler and knife manufacturer stamps from Thiers.

Dumas Ainé
Véritable Dumas
Established in 1818. The Véritable trademark was registered by Etienne Dumas. Girard Dumas filed trademarks 22, 33, 132,139, 320, 321, 322, 323, 1032, 3200, 3210 and 3211 on February 11, 1859. The company and trademarks were acquired by S.A. ROUSSELON Frères & Cie (Rousselon Brothers & Co., established in the 16th century) in 1882.
I have one of those too, but I think mine is a bit younger than yours. I have no idea about dating yours or mine beyond that , though, I haven't studied French geometrical and stylistic developments in any detail.Last edited by Pithor; 04-03-2015 at 07:37 AM. Reason: I forget ze 'accent aigu' for 'Ainé', ho ho ho! Ah am so sillie!

Thanked: 4249Very interesting early Dumas razor. Actually the information given by that linked website is incorrect, because Dumas Aine first registration was in 1809 and is more time appropriate for a razor marked with "Acier Fondu". You can see the actual registration for this trademark on this link post 22 http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...ing-out-3.html.

Well, I and the website stand corrected, although it's hard for me to decipher the registration papers. Seems that the 1809 trademark (Dumas 32) was registered by "Claude Dumas". The 1842 (I had a bit of trouble finding the year in the document) trademark was registered by Girard.
