Help with info for two razors given to me
Good evening. A friend of mind, knowing I'm intostraight razors, gave me two razors that he came across; FREE! I'm tryingto learn a little about them.
Razor #1 is a J.A. Henckels ZWILLINGSWERK made in SolingenGermany with the numbers 78 1/2 with two men figures on the tang and the scalesappears to be redwood.
Razor #2 is a Kiebitz with the number 430 on one side of thetang. Black and Ivory scales appears to be plastic.
Both are the same size and I'm guessing are 4/8" due tobeing just a bit smaller than 5/8 razors I own. See photo's.
I thought someone might know a little about them.
Hope you had a great Easter!

Welcome to the forum Mark. You are welcome to introduce yourself so our members will learn a little about you.
Your razors are what you have mentioned information wise. Good brand names, good shavers and they appear to be in nice condition.
You are welcome to search in the following area and learn as much as you can about your
straights.

Yeah I don't know the second brand but the Henckels is nice I know. I am sure the second as mentioned previously is a good vintage brand. They probably started out as a 5/8's but have since lost some from honing wear. Nice razors and nice friend.

Welcome to SRP! Congrats! Nice find!
The J. A. Henckels brand razors are top of the line as far as German razors go, at least of the ones I've tried. I had one a while back, sold it and hated myself for it. I was determined to have another and after looking 3 years ended up with two nice ones....won't part with them!
Can't tell you anything about the Kiebitz as I have never had one but it looks like a fine one to me. Get them both honed up, I'm sure they will both shave just fine. Enjoy!"If You Knew Half of What I Forgot You Would Be An Idiot" - by DoughBoy68
