My air travel/checked bag straight is a Feather DX Folding packed in a toothbrush holder.
And I've never had a problem.
Makes for a compact kit, and if something was to happen to it they can be replaced.

If it's in checked luggage you are completely within TSA regulations to pack a straight razor. +1 on the don't forget and leave it in your carry on or you will likely be leaving the airport just minus the razor if your lucky.

I would be far more worried about it being stolen because I can gurantee you it will get your bag physically checked by TSA prior to departure. I would place it so they don't have to search for it and tear up your packing job looking for it. Also, take one your not going to cry over disappearing IMHO. Most people are honest but I have had friends lose knives somewhere in between departure and arrival.

    Good luck.

Here is the TSA website; I would not take a chance on carry-on.

Prohibited Items | Transportation Security Administration

We even screen pilots at our location for travel, and no one can give me a clear yes or no on the disposable DE razor blades as carry on.

Yes for whatever the reason, TSA loves going through my stuff, especially my golf bag. I think I'm just going to check a bag and toss a few DE blades and an Arko stick in with the unremarkable (though competent) Merkur 33. Might be good to rough it for a spell....

Haven't checked a straight razor, but have done a DE. For carry on, a straight is an obvious no-no. I have taken DE carry on, and had the blade confiscated twice, out of a dozen flights. TSA site says safety razors are OK, but also ,emotion it is at the discretion of the checker, so YMMV. I've never had a problem, when I have gone through TSA Pre.
