Thanked: 45Nate's Straight or Hart?
I am torn....the cost differential is not insignificant. One has the makers name stamped directly on it...and made by the master himself...
the other clearly born of his influence and similar in many ways. Is it worth the difference north of $50 to start?
Thanks for the advice. I have a growing collection of foreign razors...and with a PRC in the production que I would like to round out a small corner of my collection for some more American steel!

I have both Harts and one of Nate's Razors and like them all - as in they are in the regular razor rotation.
IMHO if it's a toss-up on costs go with Nate. His fit, finish and edge is outstanding - but the bonus is the scales. They "fit" - both complimenting the razor and its form - you just don't want to put the razor away...
Let us know what you decide and how it turns out.

Thanked: 45To be perfectly honest, that is the direction I really am leaning in...the cost at this stage of the game is not a factor outside of value...
I just want to make sure I am not missing something...the Nate's don't have nearly as much written up about them, and for good reason...they simply aren't as common or easy to come by.

I don't think you can go wrong either way!
Both have great reputations.
I have 2 Harts and they are my primary razors.
They have been flawless for over a year. It's a dog eat dog world and I have on milk bone underwear.

Thanked: 52Here's another thought, why not go right to the source and get a Tim Zowada.
I have Hart's and TZ's, would take the TZ's hands down. I've never had a Nate Zowada razor so I don't know how they stack up against his dad's.

Thanked: 45Trigger pulled on this guy...
Nate's Straights Honing Service, and Razor Service
while it may be the only one currently available...of those on the site...I am glad as it appealed to me more than the others by a pretty wide margin. Now the wait....

Good choice.. I have a few Harts and have had two TZ's. There has to be an advantage in sharing chromosomes.
The scales coming out of the Zowada residence are finished at a sick level. Harts shave awesome (as long as you don't have a Gen I).. However, I think they beg to be rescaled. Sad, but true.---------------------------------------------------
