Default Boker Edelweiss with bone scales

Very tempted to buy one as the bone scales have been discontinued. But do I shave with it or leave it completely untouched as a collector's item. What do you guys do with your rare and discontinued items that may be essentially be or become NOS?

I shave with the razors in my "collection". Most are discontinued being vintage and none are NOS after I have used them. I think there are very few really "rare" razors as most were made by the ton to be used as tools. As always it is a personal choice which way to go with any razor you purchase.

A razor for collectors must be totally NOS in wrapper, etc. For us accumulators, a really nice razor is a joy and holds value to other accumulators...According to one collector, razor accumulating shavers are the reason prices for razors are so high.

I shave with all my razors.

I have the Boker edelweiss with bone scales. Kind of a Boker promo deal. The scales are a bit large for the razor. Weighty and a bit loose when delivered. Fit and finish was not great. I do really like the shave I get from the razor. I will not sell mine but not my favorite.

I decided to temporarily satisfy my acute case of RAD with the Dovo La Forme instead. Also a discontinued model and not likely a future collector's item but I think it just looks better. Translation- I'll probably get the edelweiss next week.

    RAD can be painful.

After hearing that I'm happy I went with the la Forme. I appreciate the feedback. A subpar fit and finish would have really frustrated me.

Personally all razors are meant to shave with. The feel of the blade on the face is why I use them. Can't just look at them.

Yes, all to shave with. I don't think I could own a top razor and not shave with it at least once! Then, since it's wouldn't be NOS anymore, I would just keep it in my rotation!
