    Default Scales gassing?

So I picked up this razor today (along with a duck but that's for another thread) and its in great shape with minor surface rust. It was hard to show well in the pics but the rust is still bright orange with some of it wiping off by hand. So to me it seems like it's still fairly fresh rust, which makes me wonder if the scales are starting to gas. Is there any way to tell for sure or to test them? The scales are super cool and are in perfect shape, I would really hate to loose them. I definitely don't want to get rid of them unless I know for sure the scales are gassing and need to be removed. Any help would be awesome. Also, sorry for the bad pics. Name: 20150417_164229.jpg

Dude! Is that like a twogoldenmen (shudder!)? I think the point may well be mute.
Bust the blade off and toss it in the bin.

Take a real good look at the razor, Is that a "Two Gold Men" razor? does it say where it was manufactured?

The blade does say two gold men but I can't see the manufacturer stamp because of the rust, I'll have to clean it up to see where it was made. Is two gold men bad?

It doesn't look like cell rot to me. Two gold men are Pakistani razors which in general don't have a good reputation. I personally have never handled one so I can't say. Give it a quick cleaning, hone it up and see what happens.

Well I paid $22 each for that and a dubl duck so if it's a loss I still ended up with a duck for under $50

In my experience cell rot usually affects the part of the blade that rests between the scales, not above them.

I was thinking of cell rot when I said gassing. For some reason I was thinking when the celluloid rots it produces a gas and that's what causes the rust. I could be wrong, I'm still a newbie. Also the link didn't seem to work for some reason if you wouldn't mind reposting it
