    Default Worth It?

A dealer at the local flea market finally got prices on all his razors. The two I'm considering are an "F.A. Koch & Co - Made in Germany (back); Faultless No 116 (front)", and a "Krusius Brothers - Made in Germany (back); 46 1/2 KBEXTRA (front)". Mostly for condition reasons (the rest were in less favorable condition).

Any idea of their age? As well as any other info on them, would be appreciated. Data on the Koch, for example, is scant.

Sorry about the picture quality. I was goin for just the highlights, not full on razor porn.

There are very few issues with the KB. Obviously needs honed, a small spot or three of non-critical rust, and not much pitting. She is a beauty, without being extravagant. I like how the spine work compliments the jimps.

The few posts I found on SRP suggest it will serve me well. And if it holds an edge better than my Dovo Best Quality, it'll be my designated travel razor .

Tagged at $43, it would require conferring with SWMBO. Plus, I'm not head over heels about it at that price either... but then again, I'm a noob that might not know the deal staring me in the face.

The Koch will get its own reply within this thread.

There is a fair amount of hone wear. Also, some light rust on the entire blade, and possible pitting.

I believe they are asking $30 for that one. Again, kinda high for something rusty. Maybe I can do a "Franky bundle" (thank you American Pickers), and bring the price down to something I'd be willing to swallow?

I'm curious. Is No 116 a model number? Or is it a serial number? Like 116 in a series of 200 or 300?

At those price levels you would be further ahead watching the classifieds, there are better values on razors there somewhat regularly. I don't know what is there right now, but check often. The intro level razors don't often stay for long. If you look at the cost of sending one of those out to get honed and then ad that to the cost, and then look at the prices in the classifieds for shave ready razors you will likely stop looking there. Also we do not discuss values on the forum.
