Can't go wrong with Renaissance Wax been keeping Armor and Swords in Museums rust free for years i'm sure it will serve your razor well. You can use this stuff on wood or horn scales too it wont hurt anything. The more razors you have the more you have to be diligent about drying them and caring for them, Its not a happy day opening a box you haven't touched in a while only to find a favorite razor marred with rust.
    Don't drink and shave!

You guys don't store your razors in water? only joking I use baby oil after rinsing, drying and stropping a few passes and then some silica packets from a new coat I bought in a buck knife tin keeps my lovely razors rust free and protected

Excellent idea!!! the cable box seems like a great pair with the hot water which I use everytime with no rust whatsoever. Although I wouldn't go as far as 8 hours as the hot water method is more than enough. I wouldn't want to have an open razor for every other person in my household to get curious about it.... alert: possible accident!!!!. One thing you can do for the Little rust spots on the blade is to get a cotton swab slightly dipped into some polish cream like "blue magic" and work out the spots with it, then carefully wash it out with some soap, hot water, thorough dry, (some over-the-cable-box technique) and voilá!!. Never liked the oiling on my blades as I would have to clean them before stropping to protect my beloved (and old) strop. I stick to the good old hot water method, dry with a towel while the blade is still hot, keep it open for about 10 minutes, 20 leather rounds and send it back to sleep till the next adventure
