Thanked: 45Dubl Duck 11/16 Square Point Satinedge
Just picked this up off of the bay....I probably paid a little too much for it but I am pretty happy overall. It has a bit of spine wear, but it is all even. The edge needed a bit of work so this one went from 1k-12k. It took a simply fantastic edge heel to toe and I will give her a whirl tonight! I wish the scales were a bit more clear, but I love that the bolsters and pins are all in place...and that there is no cracking! There is a ton of life left in this little gem...my first Dubl Duck and hopefully not my last!
One quick note...there was a little honing damage on the shoulders and they lost a bit of metal. This was from a previous owner, not from me.

Thanked: 45Does anyone know a good method for getting the scales back to something that resembles clear? I am assuming I will have to tear it down, which I am not prepared to do personally....
I have some jewelers polish good enough to polish acrylic to perfectly clear...perhaps that might work?

Be careful with those scales. They are Celluloid and the clear ones are very prone to gassing. It doesn't take much to damage them. I wouldn't do more than a light cleaning. Cape Cod Polishing Cloths work pretty good on those.

Thanked: 45Thanks for the heads up! I am usually weary of trying to work on things like this, especially since though slightly discolored, they are in incredible shape otherwise (not at all even slightly worn or warped in any way). Sometimes it is best to leave things well enough alone. I am going to get whatever grit/dirt easily comes off, but I don't intend to do anything more than a surface treatment.
