    Default Timber Rattler Razors

I but a VERY cheap razor off of ebay, it looked like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=31764&rd=1 . Is this one of those infamous pakis? It will not take an edge. What is it about cheap razors that won't sharpen, does the steel have less density? Good thing the razor only cost me $2.00. It looks plain but pretty that's all the good things I can say about it.

My friend, you've been taken. At least it didn't cost much.

I'd say that a "new" razor for less than $50 or $60 should immediately be viewed with suspicion. (One exception are the excellent Polish razors sold by a member here.)

Until you know what to look for, a better bet is to stick with buying vintage razors. There are so many nice ones out there...
