Duck Followed me home
Let me start by saying, the scales were like this when I found it.
Dubl Duck Satin Wedge 5/8 Square Point. Looking forward to taking this one for a test drive tomorrow. Looks like it is partially hollow ground, even if it is listed as a wedge. Is that right?

Thanked: 3226Nice find, congrats. Yea it's a modern wedge so likely more like a quarter hollow ground. It is not ground like the old near wedge Sheffields. You can check the library for grind types.

The Satin Wedge was a small wedge they made at the request of barbers back in the day. It is a partial wedge but shaves with wedge characteristics not hollow grind at all.

Thanked: 4827They shave really well. My spike point tends to bite so I muted mine.

Nice find. I have two Union Spikes which are very similar blades. They shave great. Hope yours does it for you!

Thanked: 45I learned that lesson last weekend after working on a practice razor on the hones....nicked myself 4 times and didn't even feel more than a light scratch. I learned all about muting following that shave. Even just barely dulling the tip of the bevel on the toe makes a HUGE difference.

Thanked: 3215Yes, a spike will teach you to shave with a lite hand, a very lite hand and make you pay attention…
If you do mute the tip, do so lightly, you probably will fine down the road you may want it back. It does not take much to mute, just a lite stroke on the very corner.
