    Default Ern 2625 - 4/8 X 1-1/2! Anyone know about this razor?

I just got this Ern 2625 razor at an antique shop today. The blade is in really good condition for an antique shop razor. It has cellulose scales and the best part is it is TINY! It is a 4/8 X 1-1/2 blade and the tang is flared so that it can only open to be straight. I have been str8 razor shaving for about 6 months now and am getting much better. I also enjoy restoring old blades, and am looking forward to getting this one tip top. Does anyone know any more about this style blade, or the possible age? I'm thinking 1910-30's with the cellulose scales and what little I've been able to find on Ern razors. I would love to know more about the history of this blade.
Also how do I add photos? I would like to add some pics of it

You are probably right about the date. To add pics, cick reply first. Then look above & click on the third box from the right & make sure it says "from computer" or you can go down & click "go advanced". Once there you will see a place that says manage attachments & you click on it. When you click on it a window opens & at the top right it will say "add files". When you click on "add files" there will be a box at the bottom that says "select files". Sometimes you have to click it twice. Then from your computer a window opens & you click on "photos" or at least that's what mine says. A box will then appear with all your photos & you click on them. If I want to add more than one photo, I hold down my shift key & click every photo you want to add. Then it should say "open" & click on that, then "upload". You should be able to follow the instructions & it will work.

Thanks, I tried again but I think it's because I'm on my phone and not my computer that it won't give me the option to attach files. I'll add some pics from my computer later. Thanks!

    Hi,

Razors that have an augmentation of the tail so that it cannot open any further than in-line with the scales and which are small are generally meant for paring hard skin away from your feet rather than shaving, and are known collectively as "corn razors" - here is an image of one, another ERN by the way:

    Is yours something like that?

    Regards,

Thanks Neil! Yes that is very similar to mine. Slightly less cool knowing that's what it is rather than some sort of old school detailing razor, but I still love the razor itself and can join my few others that are beyond restoring and are for keepsake value. Thanks again!!

Have you ever heard of anyone restoring them to shave ready and using them? Or is that kind of weird and a waste of time?

I haven't, I am afraid, but I have seen personal collections of them - they are well worth collecting in my opinion not only for the 'cute' factor, but there are some radical shapes about, too.
