    Default Boker Antique Store Find!

$20 in an antique store in Idaho Springs, CO. Pretty good overall shape, and just a few little chips on the toe I will be working out after I polish it a bit and clean it up. No real hone wearl of any kind and just a tad of active rust at the pivot. Original scales are in pretty good shape too! Not bad for what I paid!

A real beauty. I always love those cream tree scale Bokers.

Yes, I believe you will have a winner there when you hone it up, congrats.

Great find. Why does this never happen to me? I'd pay $20 (About £15) for the scales alone. Nice!

Very nice, classic looking Boker. Good work on finding one with the Boker scales too, that's a bit special!

Here is the result after just a little polish and some honing. I actually had to hone it twice as the first time didn't develop the center of the edge as much as I would have liked (the blade has a slight smile, which I maintained despite working out chips at the heel and toe). The first round was with 2 layers of tape, the second (which was very brief) was with none. The edge is now keen from end to end and extremely smooth. I largely left the blade alone aside from stopping any active rust at the pivot in order to maintain the original etching, which is in extremely good condition. There is pitting all around, but the vast majority is quite shallow and is free of rust, so I will leave that alone as well. The scales are in pristine form and polished up well. No warping or gassing to be found here!
