Nice finds!

Nice pick ups! I like the bone scales, too bad they are so thin. I usually end up re-scaling new blades, to me it makes them "mine"

I like getting new ones also well maybe not so new. I to get the ones that need a little something. now I do know my limits. rust but not too deep. I've gotten so my scale making is not too bad. and the honing well I can shave without those big ole crocodile tears. when I get through I let them go and find a new toy to play with. and it starts all over again. some of these I do keep but most I find new homes for. for me that's just part of the fun of straights.

Well, I am not to the point of making scales. I am just getting started on sharpening my own. If the W&B needs it, I will send it out for a pro to look after, but the L&H was bought with the idea of learning to sharpen a smiley blade when the time comes. Scales stay for now, but who knows what I will do the next time there's a meet?

Making scales is part of the fun, and empowerment of this craft, IMO.
Fun and easy to make and they don't count as scales till they wrap around the steel. So no harm in making some, tossing them and making more.
I've shaped down some of that hemlock you gave me. They are rough shaped scales needing final fine shaping to their intended blade.
Happy to give them to you as a first set to either finish, or copy on your journey mate.
Could make your first set a matched razor and brush, hypothetically.
Great looking blades BTW. Love me some thin bone scales. The few I have, I enjoy immensely.

3 years ago, never would have thought I'd be doing this, nor doing this to the level I have started to do this.
Shave, scent, stone, soaps, strop, scales, history, metallurgy, all co-mingling into a very satisfying hobby that spans more time than a crappy electric shave ever did..

I thought I had slowed down, have 3 coming out of the pipe at Vals and another incoming from Bruno made from some pieces of rare Tamahagane steel I found several months ago...it is true...razors and stuff are like the Borg - resistance is futile!
