Thread: My great grandpa's straight

Nice razor! It looks to be in decent shape from the picture. I have one from my Grandfather on the way to me. I don't plan on using his except on special ocasions, but I will have it restored so I can can pass it down at some point.

Thanks for the info and opinions so far. My plan was to have it restored and use it.
Using it will most likely end up being on special occasions.

I'm sure there's plenty, but can someone point me towards some razor restoration links?

Ditto! I had Glen restore my great grandfather's razor and he did an amazing job. With his schedule, I would guess somewhere between 4 to 6 weeks, totally worth it.

i would say that's a fritisse/fritise, i'm not sure if this is a brand maked by ERN. but in every case it's a good razor. Surely from solingen.

He had the razor, box and his shave mug too. It'll go off for a restore very soon. Now I'm looking for a specific vintage brush to restore and keep with it.

Does it really matter what it is. You have your great grandfather's razor! I don't think it could get any better than that.

I can't see the tang stamps to be sure. There's no question however the brand is by C.F. Ern. Whether the razor belongs to the scales I can't tell.
