I had my 2nd shave with a Shapleigh Diamond Edge last night and was uber happy again! I have a straight razor question though. The steel or blade on that razor feels and sounds measurable thinner than say my Dubl Duck or, especially, my Wade and Butcher.

I know that blade widths vary, but did/do different makers use more steel, and thus thicker heft in some blades as opposed to the other? I notice with the WB there is no audible feedback and I am guessing that's due to the heft. I notice that my Filarmonica 14 feels like a piece of tool steel in heft as well!!
