Thanked: 154Unless they've recently changed their manufacturing process, TI does finish honing their razors by hand, followed by stropping.

The new one I showed in the SOTD, some have just a slight uneven bevel not much but noticeable. I heard they were done by machine & the initial bevel might be but I always assumed the finish was done by hand. I'll have to look into this because when I first got the newest one which BTW is a very nice 7/8" straight, there were posts about it & questions on the newer ones.

Everyone knows the fancier a razor is and the more it costs the better it shaves....or seems to shave.....or we want it to shave the best-har har.

TIs and Harts take a bit of patience to get the the edge just so for a smooth shave but once dialed in they hold that edge for a long time. They do seem less forgiving than German or English steel. For a while I thought that was just me imagining things.
I do agree that an entry level TI (price wise) shaves as nice as a more expensive one. While I love my Hart, a lot of razors can be had for that money."The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas." -Linus Pauling

Thanked: 3215You can buy a very nice, Vintage TI for what you will pay for an entry level new TI, that is not half the razor the Vintage is.
I hone a lot of new TI’s, and they can be made to shave, but once you hold a nice vintage and new, you will see and feel the difference.

Got a really good deal on this razor from an antiques dealer in France. I intend to have it polished, honed and sharpened when it arrives. This I hope will be a great razor as I have understood that the vintage Thiers-Issard is the best.
