Thanked: 0Uh oh
I noticed that other day that my Frederick Reynolds razor is shifting back and forth, but it still opens tightly. I'm starting to worry that rust or something else is wearing an uneven groove into the pivot. Any ideas?

How old is it?
I have several antiques, and most have a pinhole that was hot punched (not drilled). Those blades can move back and forth a bit on their pins.
I learned from Joe that this is nothing to wory about.
Strangely, my oldest razor, a J. Barber that was made between 1810 and 1836 is really tightly pinned. I don't mean it is hard to open or close, but there is no leeway as it turns on its pivot pin.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 0I have no idea how old it is, but I think it has bakelite handles. I guess I feel a little better about what you said with the razors being hot pressed. If it gets any worse I'll replace the scales and have a look with what's going on.

Thanked: 346I've got brand new razors from Dovo and TI that do the same thing. It's normal, if unpleasant.
