is this a good buy?
Hi all, recently i have been offered a Levering Artist 5/8 full hollow roundpoint thats already honed and ready to go for $45. this wil be my first straight if i get it and i am new to straight razor shaving so i was wondering if this is a good deal. the razor its self was said to be at least 50-60 yeasrs old too if that makes a difference. a guy named Neale is offering it. he seems like a really nice guy and i think ill get it but id like to know if this is a good price because my budget it really tight. All coments are welcome, thanks.

It's hard to say without actually seeing it. It could be an acceptable price, or could be high for the condition of the razor.
Consider what you would have to pay for an eBay "special" plus the materials and time to get it shave ready -- is that worth $45? You could get a new razor for around $50, but will still need it honed.

Thanked: 324The Levering Artist is a relatively common razor with a low collectible value but generally has a good grind and pretty good steel. Considering honing usually comes out to $15.00 to $20.00 or so, that's not a bad deal if the razor is in truly shave-ready AND the razor is in very good condition.
