Thanked: 1From another newbie:
I have been shaving with straight razors for three weeks now. Here’s this morning’s shave. My new got today Northfield Rattler (restored to the best I could get it without sanding),shave soap and after shave balm locally made in New Zealand, Omega Boar bristle brush, I’ve found the pointed blades take a bit of getting used to. My rotation of blades (so far). All of these blades apart from the Dovo and the (NOS) Fromm Redheads which were new and professionally honed the rest were used with most having pitting and rust on them. I have ended up with four Bengall’s and two Fromms. The white scale Bengall is well worn but shaves beautifully. With a lot of reading here and you tube, a set of stones and a jeweler’s lobe I can now get a pretty awesome hone on a blade. They cleaned up pretty well. All re-honed and stropped and now being used. Any comments or hints would be much appreciated.

Very nice!
I saw the Northfield on the bay by a seller named idarebecca. I know who he is. His name is Greg. I have two of those, one very well used but still good. When I got it, it ad rosette collars on it but ne scale was broken on it so I put some other old scales on it & some other collars. I also have one in better shape.
