Thread: A customized GD

I read and re-read the OP's post a few times after the controversy and while I can see it both ways I will side with the OP to give benefit of doubt because I read it as he was proud of his product and has more and will post pictures later once done for all to see.

While yes, one could imply he is trying to fly under the radar for advertising, let's be somewhat gentleman like and give the OP the benefit free of accusation until proven they are truly using a play on words as a sell technique.

Yeah really. Sometimes I think they get bored after while and just like to mess with people who don't speak english well.

What I, an average user of the forum, took this to mean as: 10 minutes after posting the pictures of my work here, a friend called me and said that he would like it, so I gave it to him. I no longer have it but I will be posting more pictures of others when they are ready.

At no point did he say that it was for sale or other were to be for sale. Nor did he specifically say he sold the original one. If you try to interpret that into something where he his violating the rules then you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Especially you Bruno. Do you not make razors solely to sell them, and do you not post pictures on this forum of said razors in threads other then the classifieds. I have seen quite a few myself from you that I would love to own but I cannot afford them. This guy is merely posting pictures of his work. If that is against the rules then this forum should have no members here. We would all be banned. What if this guy was a well known member nobody would have said anything to him about it.

Then you guys go on to make fun of his english. Really guys, really? It says he's from Bulgaria. Lets see how well you speak Bulgarian. Your making fun of his english writing skills when really he should be making fun of you because you can't even bother to comprehend what he's writing grammar mistakes and all. You guys say that he said he "sold" the razor and that he has "more one the way". When its clearly evident that he already has multiple razors that he is working on. God forbid a man just wants to show off his handiwork.

What did you involve me into ,man . I have many posts in Hones , abbout GD and that i use them to try my hones and that i give them to a frends , to get them involved into whet shaving . When i buy them i get few of them to experiment and to give them .
Check my classifieds here or on any other forum and see yhat i did not sell them or promote them .

I give this specific blade as the guy like it a lot . What do you whant to say , as it is his already . In the moment i gave it it is not mine . I have only 1 left and iit will be ready soon , but i will never post a pics again .
The intrested thing is that there is pics on What did you hone today , that looks a lot more like advertizing .
Strangely you decide that my razor is advertizing .
Intresting thing is that i clearely sayd that those are my razors and they arent for sale and you still attack me .
I will say it again , as i see that you dont comprehand easy , neither can understand the meaning of my sentences - i do not sell GD and i dont advertize nothing , i only show scalesthat i made for my blades
We will need somebody to translate maybe , im not sure we are comunicating , at all .

Yes, same boat here. The phrasing could be taken both ways but considering English is not the OP's first language I am doubtful he was aware of the nuances of English language phrasing.

Yes, this is the one and only reason why something was said.
And there have been several attempts at under the radar advertizing in the general forum recently, which is why I posted my explanation of how it could be interpreted as advertizing.

Now, unlike you guys who just come and go as you please, we have responsibilities. We do not have the luxury to come to the site every few days, check out a few posts, and if we do not like something just ignore it and come back in a week or a month or a year.

Things do not simply get better on their own, as much as I wish they would. I have been moderator on this site for 8 years and in my experience ignoring an issue doesn't make it go away but rather has the opposite effect and exacerbates it.

This is not the first case of the OP trying to draw attention to his sales on the general forums. If you just stumbled on his post it may look innocent to you, but in context of his past behavior and past warnings that he has received he no longer has the benefit of the doubt. Yes, at this point, we could have simply banned him for a time to impart that we are serious and mean what we say, because due to his history for the time being he needs not only not cross the line but stay clear of it. Instead, he got another chance to correct his behavior.

May be it appears heavy handed, but unless you have experience managing forum of this size I would suggest that you do not rush to judgement.

We certainly can take a very different approach to moderation and create the appearance that all is hunky dory. It is as simple as reversing what we do currently and let people's dirty laundry remain visible to prove that punishments are well deserved.
Instead we have chosen to live with lack of understanding, grumbling and ungratefulness from the cheap seats and try hard to not humiliate people even when they have earned it.

I certainly don't think anyone here wants the forums to be unruly and no rules in place. Like I stated, his post could read either way from one's point of view but there was no explicit "for sale" that I could see. Yes, most of us would not have the background on him unless we were reading every post he has ever written. Only those who have and know his history would.

That being said, like I said, if he truly is trying to fly under the radar with words then his punishment just and deserved.

this isnt thrue . I dont have previous behavior or past warnings , there is a mistake that mislead the other members .

Neither my behaviour is leading to my sells . I have 2 or 3 adds in the classifieds and i did not whrite nothing abbout them
They are from the last week i never whrite or post adds before that

I tend to go with Gugi's words. While some don't think you quite understand, I feel you understand quite well.
If he (Gugi) says something pertaining to previous warnings, we can be certain he is being quite nice about it and not sharing the whole, ugly story. Also, as to the reopening this thread, you are being given a chance to atone, or a length of rope to do whatever you wish with.
For the record, I did PM you to apologize for any misunderstanding of my previous post, your accusations that I had ruined your thread now seem mute. You have done quite the job yourself, it seems.
Surely you are not here to sell. Your signature bears witness to that.

Have to feel for Gugi on this one, to do nothing, it can be perceived he's not being fair and enforcing forum rules, to do something, he's also the bad guy - it's one of those "no-win" situations.

The mods are doing what they're supposed to do, on their time and dime, and the forum is an incredibly great place that I'm privileged to enjoy and be a part of, so let's leave this behind and get on to razor talk.
