    Default J. Bingham Criterion razor

    Hi all, how goes it?
I got a J. Bingham razor just two days ago from Ebay, arrived from US.
Just thought i'd share this with you all.
    Has a crown, W & R stamped on tang which dates it between 1830- 1837 i think.
Has a french point and straight scales.
Seller said it was some sort of bone but look and feel of it i think is horn.
At some point it has been damaged on one side then repaired.
It is sharp and i dont think it'll take much stropping to be shave ready.
Its very thin and has a tiny tail.
Looking forward to shaving with it.
Anyway, let me know what you think.
    Best regards,
    Gabe

Looks nice. Hard to say for sure from the pic but the scales appear to be pressed horn.

That is a nice razor. I saw it on eBay & it is indeed pressed horn. You can preserve it with neatsfoot oil & it will not hurt the blade either. You are also correct on the dates.
