Default What does it mean that the blade has been honed with one layer of duck tape?

Does that mean that the blade is inferior? that the blade is about to be worn out?

It means someone was either protecting the spine from hone wear or there might be some wear and they are correcting the angle.

Usually they use black electrical tape and not duct tape

That the guy honing it hasn't realized that Electrical Tape works better

One layer of E-Tape is not for "Correction" it is more for "Protection",,, however on a razor that has bad spine wear E-tape in multiple layers can be used to correct the "wonky" geometry

Tons of tape -vs- No tape threads around on here, tons of interesting arguments over the years hehehe
