    Default Help! What Razor?!

I am new to straight blades but am very interested. I'm an Esthetician meaning I do facials and use scalpels to "straight shave" in a way to exfoliate dead skin and shave vellus hairs. This is what's spiked my interest with straight blades. I know matter-of-factly that the lower half of men's faces ages so much better because of the constant shaving exfoliation. So I want to try! My problem is I have no idea where to begin with what razor! Please help me with your too pics and why. Thank you!!

Welcome. Check the library on this site. Ask a lot of questions. Learn as much as you can before jumping in.

Research up front will save you money in the long run. View your purchase as an investment in your face; don't try to do it as cheaply as possible, or you may end up spending more in the long run. You don't have to buy top quality, luxury products, of course, but you need to avoid cheap junk and buy solid, serviceable gear and learn to use it properly.

I would find a reputable seller near you. In the US the big one of course is the site owner Straight Razor Designs. In Canada the best place seems to be Classic Edge. Both sell shave ready blade and all the extras. Stick with something 5/8 or 6/8 and either a full or half hollow. Dovo best is a good example. Neither of these two spots have any super cheap razor that one would suggest a little cation about. They both also have strops and brushes and all the rest of the goodies. They do bundled purchases and have replacement leather for the strops. It is common to mess up the leather in the early stages.
