Default Anyone familiar with a W. Jackson razor?

Anyone familiar with the maker W. Jackson? It has a peculiar tapered tang that I haven't seen before either. Any info?

Boy, that's a Wedge Flat grind, Never have seen a Jackson, Hand forged and filed.

Is that a possible Microtome? There seems to be a # of them around, found a bunch of them on Ebay yesterday, 9.00-60$ were about average prices.

Not sure. Never even heard of a microtome until now.

Is this the Jackson you are looking for?

Jackson, William. Philadelphia (Sheffield), mid 19th Century. (Ref. R0026)

Hehe, I learned the term just a day ago.

Well I saw the one you're referring to and I think it's a different Jackson actually. Or maybe the same Jackson, with mine just being an earlier example?

regarding tapered razors, is it really tapered or just hone wear on the toe?

I said tang but I really meant the tail. It seems unusually thin and tapered. Here it is next to a more traditional example.

No, that's not a microtome razor. It's a wedge. And yes, that is an extreme slant in the tang; I have a John Barber that has that as well. It was a pain in the ass to pin tightly.
