Since this thread is about the Dovo Bismarck, I thought I'd post the following. As a truck driver on the road I can't always stop and shave when I want to. Consequently I had 2 days growth when I shaved tonight. Today, it was my Bismarck's turn in the rotation. Turned out to be one of my best shaves ever - BBS.

Tonight's Bismarck was honed by me on Sharpton Glass stones progression (2 weeks ago), stroped 40 laps on nylon web, 100 laps on latigo leather before shave, 40 laps leather after, oiled with J&J baby oil after, and stored in my leather roll up, pictured below. I used an HIS 1918 synthetic brush, and Poraso eucalyptus cream in a tube. What a great shave the Bismarck is!

I bought one of those Bismarck's right around 12 years ago with the black plastic handle and imitation pearl inlay or I think they called it crushed ice inlay, anyway I was lucky enough to get one shave ready from Dovo, or so this one was anyway. I shaved twice with it and I remember it shaved very well, after the second shave while putting it away I dropped it and put a very tiny micro chip in the edge, a real blunder I know. I was able to repair the chip on a 4k Norton and able to get this one back on track shave ready again even with my honing skills which aren't great. I used this razor for a few more shaves and it shaved nicely again, then tossed it aside because of my other razors I was more partial to in my rotation at that time. This thread kind of gives me a new interest in that razor again, I do remember it was a very user friendly blade and comfortable in the hand to shave with.
