    Default Makers loved copying each others marketing. Frederick Reynolds FBU (similar to W&B)

    My new F.R. "Celebrated for Barber's use" shares the same style etching/marketing as Wade & Butcher. Just had it rescaled in horn as the originals were unfortunately broken.

    From the honewear I believe that's how the toe was ground originally to distinguish itself from the rounded toe of a W&B

    Interesting - I have the exact same razor, the etching was done with the acid technique I believe.

    Here's another Freddy Reynold's, 9/8, Celebrated FBU, before it was cleaned up, you can just see the etching:

    It screams repair to me. Looks like it started as a barbers notch and had a broken toe. If it is original, it's the only one like it that I've seen.

    It could be an old repair. The grind was definitely professionally done. The pictures are at an angle but as you can see in the second pic taken straight on there is a notch. The toe isn't rounded however. Measures a full 8/8".
