Thanked: 96Genco razors
I have been collecting Genco razors for a year. I bought them on ebay and the least expensive ones I learned to hone on. One I bought is a Vanadium, see picture. It was advertised as new condition. What you see is how the razor came in. It has oil on it so it doesn't reflect the shine. The owner said she found it in her grandfathers drawer when they were going through it after he passed. It was in the original box. I had a barber friend look at it and he has owned and used Genco's and said it is indeed all original parts. I don't shave with it. I just like to look at a 80-90 year old razor and marvel at the way it was mass produced. I read Lynn said the Genco's hold an edge as good as any mass produced razor and they stay sharp. I have found that to also be true. The other razor in the picture is a Genco I brought back to life and I do shave with that once in awhile. Your thoughts on Genco's.

I have owned a few Genco's over the 7 years and found them to take a very good edge, stay sharp a long time and shave extremely well. The only Genco I currently own is an Easy Aces, probably the best shaving US made razor, at least of the ones I've tried. I've owned it for over a year, have shaved with it several times and have not touched the edge except to strop, in other words, still has the edge the seller (a fellow member) put on it. The only reason I sold the ones I did (an Expert and a couple Gold Seals) is to downsize my collection and really hated selling the ones I did.
Those two should serve you very well for a very long time....Enjoy!Last edited by DoughBoy68; 09-19-2015 at 07:44 PM.

Good old American steel. I've owned numerous Genco/Geneva razors and every one of them took and edge second to none.

I have a Genco pyramid square that is in my rotation, and it is a fine shaver! Thin and even grind and nice overall finish makes for a quality blade. It is made in the U.S. as an added bonus

Thanked: 3226I have a few US made SRs, Gencos among them, and find they all have been good shavers. I always thought US made SRs were under appreciated and as a result under valued. Which is great if you are looking for a shaver not a collector. They really are good bargains.

I have Genco/Genevas and like the above, they are great shavers.

Thanked: 1I had just purchased a Geneva Cutlery Corp Pyramid 6/8 w/ a square tip, and ivoroid scales from a local flea market.
In almost new condition, it's a beautiful thing, and hope once it's honed up, will be a great razor for use.
Nice to read good things about them in the real world.
I kind of buy blades on impulse, and look at history and reviews after the fact.
Hunting, I like to call it.
And loads of fun.Older Gillettes and 3 Straights...and counting...

Thanked: 96I've been soaking my 6/8 razors in oil to treat the bone and wood scales. I went to the rack and picked my Genco 6/8 round tip. 20 laps on a leather strop and what a great shave. I forgot how great the razor shaves. The edge was fantastic and the shave smooth as glass. Not bad for a 60 year old razor.
