Squond Point
I have read where square points can be difficult to shave with in the hands of new shavers. Can someone give me some feedback on Squond Point razors and the type of shave they give. A few Hart Razors have the Squond (both round and square combined) points. I know we should be cautious with every razor, but how much so with this type of point. Is it forgiving like a round or more difficult like a square point.
Thanks for your input.

I really like square points because they are precise, that being Said a square point is the only one I seem to cut myself with. A good technique is to just touch the point to some glass, it will retain the precision and look but make it a little more forgiving if you lose track of it. The place I seem to get myself is the side burn on the wtg stroke, a little too close to the ear and I cut myself with the point, then again a styptic pencil makes short work of the bleeding unless you really get yourself.

I shave almost only with square/ spike points. I love how I can get in around the goatee and mustache, round points are less precise IMHO for this. On the other side of this, they are LESS forgiving then a round point and require more concentration. For me they almost never nick me, but i attribute that to good stretching of the skin as I make my pass. I would think this would be the same for any point.
A long time ago, my buddy Maximilian used to tease me about liking these points, and I want him to know I haven't changed.Having Fun Shaving

You can mute the point of the razor. A square point isn't to bad but the spike point can reach out and touch ya if you're not careful.

Like said above, square points are more precise. Some round point I have seen look like they take a good 1/2" of useable edge from the end! I would get a round point and carefully round it off to your liking using your hones or some abrasive paper.

More precise for single hair shaving to being very good at shaping if you have a goatee or mustache where tight areas are had. I think where a sq. point gets you is that users tend to at first when new to them angle the point down at times and it bites in to you. Does not take much and the slightest flick of the wrist can get you. That said, don't be afraid to get one.......just go slow until you get the hang of using a sq. point. I have a few and they are wonderful!

A great tip I got from a friend of mine is to increase the angle slightly and reduce the pressure to an absolute minimum required, while stretching the skin carefully. This has proven to work.

The square tip on a squond is just as slash happy as a regular square point. I wouldn't say it is more or less difficult than a regular square tip. You just have to be careful that the tip doesn't drag across any non stretched skin because it will slash it, especially if you do a scything stroke.
