Anyone knows The new Timor Razors?
hi,
recently someone asked me for his first straight razor. i proposed him a thiers issard (used but in good condition and honed fine by me) and a paddle then he told me about a razor he found, named timor with writing "luxe" on the blade for 80-90$ but the razor was new (never used). i've never heard before this brand and i was curious if it is a good quality razor? nothing found on the web untill know, except the old Timor created earlier in 1900's.

Thanked: 634I hone razors in my area. I have had two people come to me with a Theirs Issard fairly new that had rust spots on the blade. Both contacted the company and they replaced the razors with new ones. I have honed one of the new razors and found the spine was ground uneven. I think the quality has gone down. See if others agree or disagree.

Thanked: 4827There have been a few threads. At one point Lynn said he was not willing to hone them because of geometry issues. $80-90 in the classifieds here is a pretty nice razor. I have had one of those Timor blades, it was very poorly ground with some issues. It looked like what I hear when people talk about issues with Gold Dollar razors. I would say shop for something else. I bought mine for $90 too, and cannot say I was at all impressed.
