    Default Dropped Razor

OK... so I finally did it... after almost 40 years of not doing it... I dropped my razor on the bathroom floor and it hit the stone tile just missing the rug in front of the sink. There was damage and that's what I need advice about. The razor appeared closed when it fell, but it took about a half an inch chip out of the inside of one of the scales leaving a slightly saw toothed section of the blade also about a half an inch long, but not deep. I've been honing the blade trying to repair the damage and seem to be making good headway exept for one or two little V type nicks in the edge. My question... should I send this blade in for re-grinding or should I just keep honing the sucker until I hone the nicks out?

Chips in a blade can be tricky. A "V" type chip could mean a hairline crack going into the blade. Halfmoon chips tend to be enclosed, and just grind them out. Hairlines will never frigging go away...

You need to look at that chip with GOOD magnification to see if it's a crack or not.

Wow, sorry about that. And how deep are these Vs? You might go out a buy a new razor, you probably deserve it by now.
